How to Use LG-CROSSS?

With the LASGOO LG-CROSS Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser, your DIY or professional projects become more manageable, accurate, and efficient. Whether you're working on leveling, layout, or alignment tasks, this tool has you covered. This versatile tool helps you achieve precise layouts quickly and accurately.

In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps of using the LG-CROSS effectively before tasks like tiling, flooring installation, or even hanging pictures.

Step 1: Power Supply

Powering the LG-CROSS is a breeze. It runs on 2 AA alkaline batteries(included), which are readily available. It will provide about 6 hours of working time, which means you won't have to worry about running out of power in the middle of your project. Once you've got your AA batteries ready, you're all set to move on to the next step.

Step 2: Power On with Ease

The LG-CROSS is designed for user-friendliness. On the top of the device, you'll find a power button. A simple press and it's ready to go.

Step 3: Choose Your Mode

This laser level offers two essential modes:

(1) Manual Mode

To check the side slider is on the left and next you can press the power button to activate this mode.

In the manual mode: This allows you to set your desired angle and lock the laser pendulum in place. For tasks that require lines at specific angles, such as stairs or non-level surfaces, the manual mode is your go-to.

(2) Auto Self-Leveling Mode (±4°)

If you're working on a project that demands a perfectly level line, slide the side slider to the right to activate this mode. In self-leveling mode, the fast stabilizing pendulum helps you level the laser line within ±4 degrees. By exceeding 4 degrees, the laser will keep flashing, it will help you to ensure that your lines are straight and true.

Step 4: Mounting Options

The LG-CROSS comes with a 1/4"-20 tripod thread, which is a standard size. This means you can easily attach it to most tripods, adding flexibility to your projects. Whether you need to project lines at different heights or angles, pairing your LG-CROSS with a tripod gives you the precision you need.

The LG-CROSS also comes with an integrated magnetic mount featuring 5/8"-11 tripod mounting threads, which is a standard size. This means you can easily attach it to most tripods, adding flexibility to your projects. Whether you need to project lines at different heights or angles, pairing your LG-CROSS with a tripod gives you the precision you need.

Step 5: Get to Work

Now that your LG-CROSS is set up and powered on, you're ready to start your project.

1. Start by setting up the laser level on a flat surface or a tripod to ensure that it won't shift during use.

2. Simply slide the side slider to the right, to activate the Self-Leveling Mode on the LasGoo LG-CROSS laser level. In this mode, the laser's pendulum stabilizes for your leveling project. The LasGoo LG-CROSS laser level with self-leveling will keep flashing until you properly adjust the device to achieve a level position. It will help you to ensure that your lines are straight and true.

Depending on your needs, you can project level and plumb layout lines across your workspace. Whether you're tiling, installing flooring, or hanging pictures, this laser level ensures your work is accurate and saves you time.

3. To activate the Manual Mode, when you need to project lines at specific angles, such as for stairs, simply slide the side slider to the left to lock the laser's pendulum in place, then press a power button on the top of the device. It will project the cross lines at specific angles onto flat surfaces.

This feature allows you to maintain a fixed angle for your laser lines, ensuring precise alignment for your project.

Thanks to the LG-CROSS's impressive accuracy of ± 3/32" per 33 feet(±1.5mm per 5 meters) and its 100 feet (30 meters) range, you can trust that your lines are spot on. This precision ensures your projects turn out beautifully.

If you're gearing up for a home improvement project, the LASGOO LG-CROSS Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser can be your trusty sidekick. Enjoy the convenience and precision it offers for a wide range of projects, and take your home improvement game to the next level!

FAQs on Laser Levels

How to choose the right laser level?

Choosing the right laser level involves considering your specific needs, the type of projects you'll be working on, and your budget. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you make an informed decision: click here.

Which is better: a red or a green laser level?

If you primarily work indoors or in low-light conditions and cost is a consideration, a red laser level could be sufficient. On the other hand, if you need visibility in various lighting conditions, including bright outdoor settings, a green laser level is likely the better choice. Assess your specific projects and usage scenarios to determine which color suits your needs best. Learn more

Can the laser light hurt my eyes?

Yes, laser light can be harmful to the eyes. It's important to avoid direct exposure to laser beams, especially high-powered ones.

LasGoo laser levels are safety class II, emitting relatively low-powered beams <1mW power output that are generally safe when used as intended.

However, it's still recommended to avoid looking directly into the laser light and to follow the safety precautions outlined in the user manual. If you have concerns about eye safety, consider using protective eyewear designed for laser work.

Can I see a laser level in daylight?

Yes, you can see a laser level in daylight, but the visibility of the laser beam might be limited, especially for red laser levels. Green laser levels are better suited for outdoor use as their beams are more visible in daylight due to the human eye's sensitivity to green light.

You can also incorporate green or red laser enhancement glasses that filter out ambient light to improve the visibility of any green or red laser beam. Anyone who has used a laser in bright conditions knows how difficult it can be to see the laser beam.

If you plan to use your laser level outdoors, you will need to use a laser detector(sometimes called a laser receiver). They help you find a laser beam in environments where it isn't visible to the naked eye, such as broad daylight.

How often a laser level should be calibrated?

We suggest checking calibration regularly, at least every 6 months, or immediately if the unit has been treated roughly. Laser levels should be calibrated when they are not shooting at their specified accuracy. Click here to know how to calibrate the LasGoo laser level.

What kind of tripod is suitable for the LasGoo laser level?

The LG-CROSS/LG-3D/LG-3Ds laser level is equipped with a 1/4'' screw hole at the bottom. When used with the provided magnetic stand featuring a 5/8'' screw hole, it becomes compatible with the majority of tripods.

How to change or charge the lithium-ion batteries?

When you charge the new battery or one which has not been used for long periods of time, it may not reach full charge until after you have discharged it fully in use and recharged it several times.

Q&A on Laser Levels

Q. How do laser levels work?

Laser levels operate by emitting one or multiple focused, precise, and straight light beams from a diode, creating a leveled line for measurements. The LasGoo cross-line laser projects bright crossing horizontal and vertical lines for various basic leveling and layout applications. For tile layout and for laying out 90-degree corners for decks or sheds, a LasGoo cross-line laser square is handy. It will project a pair of perpendicular lines. You can pick one up for less than $40, and buy it on LASGOO TikTok Shop.

Q. What are laser levels good for?

When you're building something or measuring in a small or large space, a laser level must be a very helpful tool. It creates straight lines that are really accurate, making sure your measurements are even and level. Some of the most ideal situations for a laser level are aligning cabinets and plumbing fixtures, picture hanging, achieving level floors, fitting doors and windows, and measuring for drop ceilings.

Q. Is it worth getting a laser level?

Absolutely, getting a laser level can be a great decision whether you're using it for DIY(do-it-yourself) projects or in a professional capacity. Laser levels provide incredibly accurate measurements and level lines, which makes tasks like hanging pictures, installing shelves, and setting up construction projects much easier and more accurate. This precision ensures that your work looks and functions as intended. Laser levels allow you to work on projects alone, as you don't need someone to hold a measuring tape or a level.

This independence can be a big advantage, especially for DIY enthusiasts tackling projects on their own. Whether you're working on your home or for clients, using a laser level demonstrates a commitment to quality and professionalism. While there's an initial cost, a good-quality laser level can last a long time, making it a worthwhile investment over the years. Click here to get your good partner - laser level.

Q. Do laser levels work outside?

Many laser levels available in the market are suitable for outdoor use; however, their visibility and operational range may differ. Red lasers might struggle to remain visible in bright outdoor conditions, especially over longer distances. This can limit their use for outdoor projects.

The LasGoo LG-3Ds is a green laser level that provides comprehensive 3x360° coverage, and its visibility is four times more vibrant than the red beam. When utilizing the pulse mode along with the laser receiver, its range can extend up to 328 feet in diameter.
